Spiced Kala Chana Curry

A hearty, protein-rich curry made with kala chana that is wholesome, budget-friendly and perfect for weekday meals with rice or chapati.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Lioncroft Kala Chana (soaked overnight)
  • 2 tbsp Lioncroft Sunflower Oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp Lioncroft Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Lioncroft Ground Cumin
  • 1 tsp Lioncroft Ground Coriander
  • 1 tsp Lioncroft Ginger Powder
  • 1 tsp salt (or Lioncroft Pink Salt), to taste
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 cups water
  • Fresh coriander, chopped (for garnish)
Drain and rinse soaked kala chana
Heat oil and fry onions until golden
Add tomatoes and cook until soft
Add all spices and mix well
Add kala chana and stir
Pour in water, cover and cook until tender
Adjust seasoning and simmer to thicken

🍽️ Serving Suggestion

Serve hot with steamed basmati rice, chapati or naan, and a spoon of yoghurt on the side.
