Tamarind Sweet & Sour Sauce

Tamarind Sweet & Sour Sauce

A tangy, sweet and spicy sauce made from Lioncroft Tamarind Slabs. Versatile and delicious with snacks, noodles and stir-fries.

Ingredients

  • 50g Lioncroft Tamarind Slab
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 3 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp Lioncroft Ground Cumin
1.Soak the tamarind slab in warm water for 15–20 minutes until soft.
2.Mash and strain through a sieve to extract smooth tamarind paste. Discard the pulp and seeds.
3.In a small saucepan, combine the tamarind paste, sugar, salt, chilli powder and cumin.
4.Cook over low heat, stirring continuously, for 5–7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
5.Adjust sweetness, salt and spice to taste.
6.Let it cool and store in a clean jar.

🍽️ Serving Suggestion

Use as a dipping sauce for samosas, pakoras, spring rolls, or drizzle over noodles and stir-fries.
