Red Lentil Dal Makhani

A creamy, buttery dal made with Lioncroft Red Lentils. Rich, indulgent and perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Lioncroft Red Lentils, rinsed
  • 3 cups water
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tsp Lioncroft Ginger Powder
  • 1 tsp Lioncroft Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Lioncroft Ground Cumin
  • 1 tsp Lioncroft Garam Masala
  • ½ tsp Lioncroft Turmeric Powder
  • ½ cup cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander, chopped
1. Cook red lentils with water and turmeric until soft and creamy (about 15 minutes).
2. In a separate pan, heat butter and fry onions until golden.
3. Add ginger and garlic powder, cooking for 1 minute.
4. Add tomato puree, cumin and salt, cooking until oil separates.
5. Add cooked lentils and mix well.
6. Simmer for 10 minutes, then stir in cream and garam masala.
7. Cook for 2 more minutes.
8. Garnish with coriander.

Serve hot with naan or jeera rice.
