Kala Chana Tikki

Crispy, golden patties made with boiled Lioncroft Kala Chana. Perfect as an appetizer or tea-time snack with bold spices. Serves: 4 people Total cooking time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Lioncroft Kala Chana (soaked overnight and boiled)
  • 2 boiled potatoes, mashed
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Lioncroft Ground Cumin
  • 1 tsp Lioncroft Garam Masala
  • ½ tsp Lioncroft Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander, chopped
  • Lioncroft Sunflower Oil for shallow frying
1. Mash the boiled kala chana coarsely using a fork or potato masher.
2. Mix with mashed potatoes, onion, green chillies, cumin, garam masala, turmeric, salt and coriander.
3. Add breadcrumbs and mix until the mixture holds together.
4. Shape into small round or oval patties.
5. Coat each patty lightly with breadcrumbs.
6. Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the tikkis until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
7. Drain on paper towels.

🍽️ Serving Suggestion

Serve hot with mint chutney, tamarind chutney or tomato ketchup.
