Kala Chana Sundal

A South Indian-style tempered kala chana dish made with Lioncroft Kala Chana. Light, protein-rich and perfect for fasting days or healthy snacking. Serves: 4 people Total cooking time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Lioncroft Kala Chana (soaked overnight and boiled)
  • 2 tbsp Lioncroft Sunflower Oil
  • 1 tsp Lioncroft Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp Lioncroft Cumin Seeds
  • 2 dried red chillies
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • ½ tsp Lioncroft Turmeric Powder
  • ¼ tsp asafoetida (hing)
  • 2 tbsp freshly grated coconut
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander, chopped
1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
2. When they splutter, add cumin seeds, dried red chillies and curry leaves.
3. Add asafoetida and turmeric powder.
4. Add the boiled kala chana and salt, tossing well to coat.
5. Stir-fry on medium heat for 3-4 minutes.
6. Add grated coconut and mix well.
7. Garnish with fresh coriander.

🍽️ Serving Suggestion

Serve warm or at room temperature as a healthy snack or side dish.
