A creamy, traditional Indian dessert made with Lioncroft Chana Dal. Rich, sweet and perfect for celebrations.
| 1. Dry roast chana dal in a pan until fragrant, then pressure cook with 1 cup water until very soft. |
| 2. Mash the cooked dal until smooth. |
| 3. In a heavy-bottomed pot, heat ghee and add the mashed dal. |
| 4. Pour in milk and bring to a gentle boil. |
| 5. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring frequently, for 20-25 minutes until thickened. |
| 6. Add sugar and cardamom, stirring well. |
| 7. Cook for another 5 minutes. |
| 8. Add saffron if using. |
| 9. Garnish with chopped nuts. |
Serve warm or chilled as a dessert.
